Jon Copley

Congratulations Jon! The students have voted you their favourite scientist and most worthy of the £500 prize to communicate your science work.

Hard luck to Sharon and thank you to all the other scientists who took part, you were all brilliant and each and every single one of you has contributed to the great success of this year’s event.

    Well done Jon!!!!
You really deserve to win as your answers to all the questions were amazing!! I think I have learned as much as the students from you!
Good luck with all your future work, and I will know who to get in touch with if I ever have any hard questions to answer!!

I’m really sad it’s all over, I’ve had such a good time answering all the questions! Thanks to everyone who voted and all the mods for your great work!!
    🙂

It was an extremely close run, which I think is a credit to the fantastic answers you both provided to the many questions (take the detailed answers to the ‘what was the big bang’ question- wow!).

You’re both excellent science communicators, and I think lots of students have enjoyed reading about your research. Come back for the next IAS…? 😉

Many thanks Sharon – I think it must have been very, very close indeed! I’ve enjoyed all your answers too, and your work is fascinating. Best of luck with your research, and sharing it with wider audiences – it’s clearly something you do brilliantly.

Many thanks too to all the moderators and organisers for running such an excellent event. I’ve found it inspiring to see the world through the fresh eyes of the students via their great questions – so thanks to all who asked them!

I promise we’ll in touch once we use the prize to create that link for schools to get involved in our ocean exploration. So watch this (inner) space! 🙂

Congratulations Jon and commiserations Sharon! You both did brilliantly well!

Looking forward to hearing how the plans for the server go – will the video link be available for anyone (eg me!) to see?
    😀
