No – I used to be, when I was a teenager, for a while. But then I went on an exchange trip to France, and the family I was staying with didn’t really understand being vegetarian (they thought it meant a little meat was ok!), and it seemed rude to refuse, so I went back to eating meat.
I was vegetarian mostly for sports reasons – I read an article about how a vegetarian diet could help improve your flexibility, and at the time I was doing a lot of training in Tae Kwon-Do, so I thought I’d give it a try (and I think it worked, too). But I do think animal welfare is very important, and I won’t buy meat that wasn’t reared free-range or organic. That means we don’t eat a lot of meat (because free-range and organic are expensive), so we often have vegetarian meals.
