hmmm, I’m not sure. I’d like to think that there is other life on far away planets, that have evolved in the way that we have, and I’m sure they would be very different to us! However, until we have scientific evidence for this, I’m not 100% sure! What do you think? I watched ET at the weekend, and I’d love for something like that to happen tho!

If by aliens you mean any form of extraterrestrial life, then yes, I think that is likely – even elsewhere within our Solar System. But I don’t think it is likely to be intelligent life, or even complex organisms made up of lots of different types of cells like animals and plants are. Elsewhere in our Solar System, I think there may be microbial life, like bacteria, for example at undersea volcanoes that we think may be lurking at the bottom of an ocean covered by ice on Jupiter’s moon Europa.

As for whether there is complex life like animals and plants, or intelligent life, elsewhere in our galaxy, who knows? It is possible, because even just our own galaxy is a very big place (and astronomers are now starting to detect lots of planetary systems around other stars). But it may be very, very hard for intelligent life elsewhere to physically visit us (or for us to visit them), because of the nature of the Universe (star systems even within our galaxy are a very long way apart…).

However, if you mean “Aliens” specifically like the ones in the movies Alien, Aliens ( <- my favourite film), Alien3, Alien Resurection and the Alien Vs Predator ones, then no. But there are animals very similar to them, in terms of their life cycle, here on Earth.

They're called parasitoid wasps, and they lay their eggs inside the bodies of other animals (like caterpillars), and then their offspring bursts out of the body of their host when they hatch – just like the "Aliens" do.

If you mean do I think there are little green men that come down to earth in flying saucers and abduct us while we’re asleep then no, I don’t think there are those type of aliens.

But our universe, and even just our galaxy is so huge, it’s been shown to be statistically probable that there are other forms of life out there. There’s no reason to think they’d be humanoid, like all the TV sci-fi aliens, because they may have evolved in a completely different way to us. And they may be too far away for us ever to contact. And of course we’ve got no idea whether they’d be friendly or not! 😀

It depends what you mean by aliens.
i think that given the size of the universe it is likely that life has evolved more than once. Given the wide variety of places that bacteria can live in (volcanoes, deep sea and glaciers) I find it hard to believe that something like bacteria havent evolved anywhere else.

It is less likley that there is intelligent life anywhere else in the universe, but still pretty likley, I certainly wouldnt rule it out.

I dont think its likely though that we have been visited by aliens, I think if we had there is no way it would be able to be kept secret with the numbers of scientists looking out for signs of life in the universe
