• Question: Do you think that one day we will be able to live on a different planet and also do you think that their are such things as ghosts and alians

      I really hope one day humankind will be able to leave earth and live on another planet! We’re quite far from being able to do that at the moment though – we’d have to figure out how to get there, and then probably terraform it to make it suitable for us. And we’d have to hope there wasn’t anyone already living there!

      Ghosts – no, I don’t believe in them as I haven’t seen any scientific evidence that they exist. Aliens – there’s almost certainly other forms of life out there in our universe, but they may not be anything like us and they may be too far away for us to contact in any case. I think they’re almost certainly not small and green and in flying saucers though!

      Hi Maisie – yes, I think that one day we might be able to live on a different planet. By figuring out how our planet works, it might be possible to “terraform” another planet to give it a breatheable atmosphere, so we wouldn’t have to wear spacesuits all the time.

      Do I think there are aliens? Maybe. In our Solar System, I think there could be simple life like microbes, for example on Jupiter’s moon Europa. But probably not more complex lifeforms with lots of cells, like animals and plants. But beyond our Solar System, it’s a big galaxy and a vast Universe, so who knows?

      I don’t believe in ghosts though (but I do like the TV series Supernatural, because it’s fun!).

      Yes, I think we will. Once we better understand the atmospheres and terrains of different planets, we should be able to live on one. I’m sure this is going to take quite a while tho! I think it would be amazing if we are able to do this one day.

      As for aliens, well I do believe that there are other life forms out there, what shape or form they take I have no idea, but I don’t believe the will be like us!

      Ghosts, well, I like the idea, but no, I don’t think they exist.

      Yes no yes.

      We could probably colonise mars right now if we put insane amounts of money into it. It’s very possible that life existed previously (if not currently) on Mars in some form, and a virtual certainty that it is on some planet. So yes to aliens.

      But no to ghosts. There is a very good reason why people want them to exist (we are all scared of dying), there are easy explanations for why people think they see them (in terms of everyday visual illusions), but absolutely no room in our understanding of the physical universe for how they could exist
