Hello Athisaya! The research tells us that it is pretty much a myth that there is particular behaviour that gives away whether or not someone is lying. Some people, like trained FBI interrogators, think that they can always tell. But actually, they are about as good as you or I, or about as good as tossing a coin.
The answer is different if you have someone hooked up to gadgets like I have in my lab to measure their gaze or body movements – but that’s another story.
You wanted to know how you could tell if someone is lying… There is one trick you can use…
The fact is that people have the false idea that other’s can tell what they are thinking. You can take advantage of that fact to help you guess if they are lying. Tell them that you have read that people blink a lot more when they are lying – convince them this is true by making up details. Then ask them your key question. If they are lying then they will try really hard not to blink, even so that their eyes start watering.
It doesn’t matter that usually blinking has little to do with lying. If they think that it does, and they are lying, they will try too hard not to do it.

It’s very sneaky, but it might just work….
