Gosh – there are more than 25000 species of fish alone, and I certainly don’t know about them all. And that’s just the fish – most of the animals in the ocean are not fish either.
I’ve investigated the life cycles and biology of maybe 20 species in my research, and been involved in discovering around 30 new species so far as well. Most of those are still waiting to be properly described, so they’ll keep us busy for years to come, just finding out about them.
