If all the world’s nuclear weapons went off, it would be devastating for human life (and much of the ecosystem), but it wouldn’t destroy the world.

The Earth is actually pretty tough and hard to destroy completely – after all, it is basically a 6 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 kilogram ball of mostly iron. In the past, the Earth has survived being hit by asteroids that are the equivalent of 5 billion times the atomic bomb that devastated Hiroshima.

I don’t know the answer to that one, all I know is that I really hope it never happens! I think it’s really frightening to think about 🙁

      Hi Hell

I don’t know really – it’s probable that the planet itself would recover eventually but it is possible that there wouldn’t be any humans left. This is the kind of thing I try not to worry about too much and just hope it never happens!
