My job involves going to places where no-one has ever been, and getting to see things that no-one has seen before – and that’s what I like most about it. To give you some idea of what that feels like, have a look at this short video if you have time:
The video is from one of our recent expeditions, where we were exploring the ocean floor near Antarctica for the first time. So by watching the video, you will become one of the first ~200 people ever, in the entire history of the world, to see that particular part of our planet.
I find that exciting – how about you? Oh, and to get the full effect for the video, make sure your computer’s sound is turned on too (I like putting music with my videos to try to convey the right kind of feeling – in this case it’s not rock, but I hope it still does the job!) 🙂
Facing a new challenge every day! Just as soon as I solve one problem there’s another one to sort out. That sounds as though it could be frustrating but actually it isn’t, we’re constantly advancing in tiny steps which is actually really cool!
I love it when something works for the first time, and you get that really excited feeling in your tummy because you are really happy! It’s also really amazing to look at my embryos under the microscope and think that these could turn into a human being!
