      The black death still kills about 2000 people a year and in Africa, South East Asia (particularly China) and in the US. The worrying thing with the black death is that in Africa there are a few cases that have been resistant to antibiotic treatment and it is possible that this strain will spread out of Africa an cause a more widespread problem that we would have difficulty containing, which is why we are still worried about it.
